The mission of Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer is to provide support for breast cancer screenings,
treatment or related initiatives for uninsured or underinsured residents of St. Clair County, Michigan. 

Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Emily & Steven Goudy of Fort Gratiot, MI.  They started the Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer in 2010 after one of Emily’s closest friends shared that her older sister was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.  This news hit very close to home, as Emily’s sister was the same age and they had also been childhood friends.  At that moment, Emily decided she wanted to do more and brought that news to Steve and the idea for the calendar and human ribbon were born.

Over the last 13 years Emily & Steve have worked closely with the St. Clair County Community Foundation, donating to different breast cancer funds.  In 2014, they started their own “Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” fund where they have been able to donate over $20,000 to each of the hospital foundations in St. Clair County (McLaren Foundation, Lake Huron Foundation & Ascension River District) and donated over $5,000 to the Hunter Hospitality House.  Emily & Steve are extremely grateful and humbled by the support of the community over the past 13 years and look forward to many more years of hard work & helping those in St. Clair County battle breast cancer.
