SUMMARY:Association Of Basketmakers Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Association of Michigan Basketmakers was founded in 1981 to develop and perpetuate the art of basketry. AMB members represent a diverse range of experiences and skills. They create basketry from a wide variety of materials including reed\, barks\, wood splints\, cane\, waxed linen\, beads\, and gathered natural materials. Many members gather annually to learn new techniques and to meet old friends at the AMB Annual Convention. \nAnnual Convention\nEvery autumn hundreds of AMB members gather at the Annual Convention. This five-day event brings together basketmakers of every level to share techniques\, to marvel at each other’s talents\, and to promote the art of basketry. The AMB Annual Convention is one of the largest basketmaking gathering in the United States with more than 200 attendees and visitors each year. \nAlthough the public is welcome to browse through the exhibit room and to shop with vendors\, most other convention activities\, including workshops\, are limited to registered participants. If you would like registration information and are not a current AMB member\, please contact the AMB membership chair. \nSponsored Community Event\nAny recognized guild of the AMB can submit a proposal for a community event. Some of these events might be a workshop for seniors or Scouts\, a public exhibit of baskets\, a speaker\, or a demonstration. The event can be held any time during the year. \nA proposal form and event guidelines can be obtained from Pat Symanski\, the Vice President of Community Affairs. You can also download the Sponsored Event Form and Guidelines. After the form is submitted to her\, the AMB board will then review the proposal to determine if it will fund or partially fund the event. \nBasketry Guilds\nThe AMB supports the formation of guilds for basket weavers. There are currently thirteen basket guilds in the state of Michigan that have AMB status. For a list of these guilds\, see the resources page. Any basket guild that would like to become an AMB guild should contact the Guild Chairperson and read the guidelines. The AMB offers a $100 honorarium to guilds that qualify. Please read the guild guidelines and fill out the form.

DESCRIPTION:PURPOSE\n\nTo provide opportunities to help improve the student and the athlete.\n\n\n\nMISSION\n\nCreate opportunities through athletic participation\, training\, educational tutoring\, and student-athlete college preparation.\n\n\n\nVISION\n\nTo be the hub for the needs of student-athletes in our community.\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT\n\n\n\n\nAfter School Tutoring Program – The tutoring program provides comprehensive academic support to student-athletes in need of group or individual educational assistance \nNCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center – This program provides a brief overview of the NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center core class requirements\, assistance with completing registration\, explanation of what is a “profile page” vs. “certification account”\, and discussion of the importance of being proactive with ACT/SAT testing. \nSAT/ACT 7-Week Course – The 7-week courses are specially designed for all those who want to get the best score in their SAT/ACT exam. Effective SAT & ACT prep courses can help students in many different ways and can increase test scores significantly. \nFAFSA/TIP Workshops – These workshops help students and parents fill out FAFSA and be able to answer all of the questions that they may have. Completing the FAFSA is required for scholarships\, grants\, and loans. We also help students and parents understand TIP (Tuition Incentive Program) and help them apply for it. TIP is for students who have/had Medicaid for 2 years within a 3-year period between age 9 and graduation. \nBasketball Skills Training – The program works on ball handling\, shooting\, movement drills\, and finishing drills. \nVertimax Training – Vertimax provides the unique training advantage of allowing “Light Load\, High Speed” training which is an advanced form of plyometrics that provides superior gains in power and speed performance. \nTravel Basketball Program – Our goal for our travel youth basketball program is to develop the player and the person. We want every player to reach their full potential in academics and athletics. Family\, Religion\, School\, and the Ballers Elite basketball family all play a key role in helping players to become well-rounded individuals. \nDevelopmental Recreational Basketball Leagues – Designed for Girls’ and Boys’ in 3rd through 12th grades\, committed to the game and thriving to continue to improve their technical skills and begin their age appropriate skill development. Teams are gender specific. \nBiddy ball Basketball Leagues – Designed to provide the best tool for developing youth in the sport of basketball\, while helping children to gain knowledge\, skills and the opportunity to play games. Biddy ball is for 1st and 2nd graders. \nDevelopmental Recreational Volleyball Leagues – Designed for Girls’ and Boys’ in 6th through 12th grades\, committed to the game and thriving to continue to improve their technical skills and begin their age appropriate skill development. Teams are gender specific. \nGolf Simulator Program – Our golf simulator is a technical system of an advanced technology in which a golfer can play on a graphically or photographically simulated driving range or golf course. This allows golfers to practice on their game indoors. In a simulator system\, you can play golf regardless of weather\, and time.
